I built my first website in 2016 — alexandrechecs.com — as part of my work as a chess instructor. I needed to be found by future students, and the web was the obvious answer. Covid and the lockdowns that followed made being as visible as possible online an absolute necessity. It was a matter of survival for a freelancer!
Since then, I've created several other websites — for myself and for people close to me — and I keep building them alongside my chess lessons. Naturally, I became interested in SEO to increase my professional visibility online. Understanding how Google ranks sites, what makes content appear on the first page, which technical signals matter... there's something game-like about the constant pursuit of better positioning.
The last few years have been about the discovery and then the explosion of artificial intelligence. A total paradigm shift, including in the way people search for information. I find myself no longer endlessly scrolling Google's homepage but instead sending my AIs to do the work themselves!
Unsurprisingly, my interest in the web, SEO, and artificial intelligence led me to discover and explore the field of GEO (Generative Engine Optimization).
TryGEO was born from this convergence!
